Shells

Venus CombThe Museum has a colorful collection of shells from around the world.  From the frilly ‘fingers’ of the Hexaplex and slender spines of the Venus Comb to the wave-like curves of the Giant Fluted Clam, our collection of shells is sure to catch your eye!  Shells are made by soft-bodied invertebrate animals called mollusks that grow their skeleton on the outside, to protect them from predators and the environment.  See why they say that with Mollusks, beauty is only ‘shell deep’!
